Speech Class

This semester I planned on taking interpersonal communication in lieu of oral communication. The week before school started this fall I discovered that the master's program I'm looking into specifically requires oral communication. I still think that interpersonal is more pertinent to being a nurse, but it looked like I had little choice in the matter. So, I enrolled in the dreaded public speaking class.

So far, it hasn't been too bad. Actually, it hasn't been bad at all.

For our next speech assignment, we were instructed to deliver a speech about an object that represents who we are.

What object represents who I am? Suggestions, please?

Changing of the Seasons

It finally feels like fall. For the first time in a while I had to close the window at night. Adios, Summer! Toe-socks, warm pajamas, crocheting...How you doin'?

Belated Birthday Celebration with Beth

Since I didn't get to celebrate my birthday with my friends (I had a date with my physiology text that night) we postponed the get together until tonight. Originally we planned to go to Color Me Mine (for my second try) because Sunday nights are paint free if you come in a group of three. Unfortunately, my friend Cindy wasn't feeling well, but it still works out because we can always reschedule for another Sunday night.

Since my friend Beth and I are both unemployed (we prefer "retired Starbucks baristas"), we decided to save the $14 they would have charged us to paint and wait until we could all go. We still had dinner at BCD Tofu as planned. I have to say I was impressed because even though Beth was the only white girl in sight, she ate that corvina fish like it was nothing. She actually ate more kimchi than me...I love adventurous eaters. I figure, there's too many different cultures, too many different foods to stick to just your own.

We finished off our date at Starbucks with a pumpkin spice latte and a pumpkin spice misto. And for the first time in five years, we both had to pay full price.

Oh, and check out the cool sake set she got me, with a cool bottle of sake of course.

Color Me Mine

After a long week of waiting, my penguin mug is finally here! Not bad for my first try at Color Me Mine...

CRAB!

Andrew's been trying to desensitize himself from crab. Seems to be working.

Tita Susan came over to make her famous crab dish. It's heavenly.

Power Walking

Today I walked by myself at Wilson Park. It was actually nice--but since I had no one to talk to, my usual 5 laps (4.5 miles) seemed to take longer. There was a young woman who was power walking faster than most of the joggers; I've never seen anyone walk faster, aside from the Olympics. I would've taken a picture but (1) she would've looked like a blur, and (2) I don't carry my phone with me due to lack of pockets.

On my last lap it started to rain. That sucked. But I can't wait for it to start raining again--enough of this hot weather.

Vermicelli Flates

I was mistaken; they do not have rice flates, only rice special dishes. They do have Vermicelli Flates. I love Vermicelli Flates.
